About the Campaign

The Cry for Children Challenge invites people from across the world to pause and reflect on the lives of children around us. In busy cities, at traffic signals, on streets and at bus stops, there are children whose childhood is quietly slipping away to hunger, labour, neglect, or lost opportunities.

This campaign begins with a simple invitation: take a moment to truly think about children. Allow yourself to feel their struggles, their hopes and the world they deserve. If that reflection moves you deeply—if it brings a sense of pain, empathy, or even tears—do not ignore it. Let that feeling guide your words.

Participants are invited to write a short reflection by completing the sentence: “Dear children, I promise you that…”

Through these promises, people from across the world can transform empathy into commitment and raise a collective voice for a childhood built on dignity, care and opportunity.

At its heart, the campaign calls for four simple promises every child deserves: a full stomach, freedom to play, chance to learn and warmth of love. These promises form the foundation of a safe and meaningful childhood.

The Story Behind the Campaign

Around the world, millions of children are still growing up without the basic promises of childhood. They work on streets, sell small items at bus stops and struggle for survival while the world around them moves on.

The idea for the Cry for Children Challenge began with a simple but deeply disturbing moment — meeting the same child selling pens at the same bus stop three different times within six months. In that moment, a painful question arose: If nothing changes in a child’s life for six months, what does it say about our society?
